Yellow Book Comics

this is bordering on the way intensely personal, i guess, but since the only three people who will ever see it who can make sense of the references are the three of us listed as contributors to the site, what difference is there in broadcasting it as fiction to the rest? anyway the characters are alive and not imagined but it is fiction, in truth, in that no scenario or conversation like this ever took place... i wish it could appear bigger, even in the link, but you know how it goes. so just forget about everything and use your eyes:

I get the idea, but would really like to see everything a little better. Can you blow it up somehow and post it again ot provide a link?

i wanted it to appear bigger. unfortunately photobucket automatically reduces all images to 250k (if this can be switched off, let me know), severely limiting the size. the original is an 8.5 by 17 inch page so it didn't even fit on the kinko's scanner (if you look closely, the top line matches unevenly with the second line). but that also means photobucket had to drastically reduce the image's dimensions to host it. i tried to post it larger but it just gets blurrier and pixelated. i could gladly email the full 1.5 meg file to anyone who wants to see the real penstrokes.

When's this gonna be updated, guys?

as soon as you eager proselytes join in. this is not a one-way conduit of information. three people have joined this "group blog" ... so far. i made it clear from the beginning that, though i would like to write more frequently, i don't have the time to keep a regular blog let alone continually add original content. i'm sure the same is true of my colleagues. and for keychange to be an effective and lively journal the burden must fall on all of us as a community of readers, writers, artists and so on. i look forward to commentary as much as content, because often that's where work elevates to creation from mere communication. but i would also appreciate a few more pieces of writing or ideas a week. anybody? i know the invitation is already out there

Nobody is going to want to contribute unless you guys show some dedication to it.

When I read these comments I get a bit hot around the collar.

First, I work forty hours a week and post every week day on Chicagoist. I need a little decompression, a Simpson's rerun or two. A little time away from the "Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. What am I going to write?"

Second, we sort of made a pact that this wouldn't be a diary. Not a "this is what I did today and how I feel" blog. The diaryish entry is quite a bit easier and faster. Not that there's anything wrong with those blogs. I love them. I just didn't want to do it anymore. It was going to be art/writings that were well thought out. Whether or not we're accomplishing these goals is up to debate.

Who reads this anyway? Four other people?

Anyway, I'm going to try harder. I just haven't been writing much lately outside of Chicagoist, work and shoddy original music.

So, eat me. JK, or not.

i don't watch any television; my tv doesn't work and we don't have cable. i've seen four movies in the last two months.

i worked 54 hours last week (at the bar). i spend two days a week at the onion and one tutoring (admittedly, not the last two weeks).

i read a lot. usually i have other writing i ought to be doing if i do any.

it's not up to us to put more effort into it to make you want to join. it was supposed to be a collective from the beginning, not an advertisement for more volunteers.

i think more than four people read it... we would know if anyone beside blogger members could comment. i wouldn't have before i was cajoled into cooperating with this site.

Hey anonymous,
I am what I eat.
You stop being a pussy and let us know who you are.

Perhaps you could invite anonymous to write a post?

Anonymous, you are officially invited to contribute. Send your submission to the e-mail address located up top. I won't edit a word of it and you can post it anonymously.

Sam

this is getting stupid. anonymous could be more than one person. the rule is already: anyone who wants to submit can. i can post anonymously just by toggling below this field of text right now. anyone who's not a blogger user is forced to post anonymously or sign up.

i'm working on two essays a grouping of songs a handful of emails and a novel. sometimes i draw. when a complete project surfaces i post it, send it, save it, whatever. everyone who wants to write or post something visual is always invited. quit complaining about lack of updates. only two of us have ever even bothered to produce anything for this site. the onus is on the rest of you.

The rest of our readers already have blogs that they post to. I was offering Anonymous the option to have their writing as an official post on the blog, not a comment.
